Macros
The macros are the controls. Each runs from -1 to 1 between two words for the sky,
and 0 is the seed's own sky. Set them in the project's [macros], which
starcanopy new fills with every macro at 0, or on the command line with
--macro NAME=VALUE.
| Macro | -1 | 1 | What it moves |
|---|---|---|---|
open | enveloping | open | how much of the sky the gas covers |
dense | tenuous | dense | how much the gas hides where it is |
fragmented | whole | fragmented | gas broken into pieces with clear sky between |
detailed | smooth | detailed | fine structure in the gas |
billowing | wispy | billowing | rounded billows, or ridged filaments |
crisp | soft | crisp | hard edges and hard shadows |
turbulent | calm | turbulent | gas buckled, swirled and blown out |
luminous | brooding | luminous | light from within the nebula |
bright | dim | bright | the whole sky, as an exposure |
hazy | clear | hazy | a glow over the sky, the dark between not black |
vivid | muted | vivid | how colourful |
starry | sparse | starry | how many stars, and how bright |
galactic | remote | galactic | where in the galaxy: in toward its centre, or far out |
Macros add: two that move the same dial move it together. Every name has been confirmed blind -- picked as the side it names on the skies it was scored on -- though how far each end goes may still change.
